Two independent films debut at the 17th annual Sonoma International Film Festival April 2nd with Baum Foundation sponsorship. Sonoma International presents hand-selected films, ranging from independent features and documentaries to world cinema and shorts. The Baum Foundation supports the mission of Sonoma International to promote independent filmmakers from around the world that inspire people to action and bring levity and insight to the human condition.
Documentary Feature
Angela Sun’s journey of discovery to one of the most remote places on Earth, Midway Atoll, to uncover the truth behind the phenomenon of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. Along the way she encounters scientists, industrialists, legislator and activists who shed light on what our society’s vast consumption of disposable plastic is doing to our oceans, and what it may be doing to our health.

Visual Journeys & Stories Shorts Program
This film documents the recent portraiture project of prominent Bay Area painter Valentin Popov, filmed at his studio and exhibits. Film also features experts, critics and colleagues talking about the artist’s work.
