The 2014 winner of the Baum Award for Emerging American Photographer, Jaimie Warren, debuts her newest video work, You Are Not Alone, at Higher Pictures Art Gallery in New York. Warren gathered many volunteers and artist at the Helmuth Projects in San Diego to create this one of a kind piece.
In Warren’s typical style, she combines iconic pictures and scenes from art history with notable celebrity personalities played by herself. In You Are Not Alone: Self-Portrait as Michael Jackson in a recreation of the Genealogical Trees of the Dominican Order, Jaimie Warren is playing Michael Jackson in a reimaged 16th/17th Century Dominican genealogical painting. Jackson’s Dominican Family tree is riddled with a surprising number of cameos played by her volunteers from the Bee Gee’s to Peter Pan. Warren’s mix of antiquated and contemporary ideas engages the audience from the first moment.
Marking Jaimie Warren’s second solo exhibition at Higher Pictures, You Are Not Alone will be showing from February 25 –March 7, 2015. Warren was recently selected as a featured artist in ART21’s documentary series “New York Close Up” with her first film to premiere in the summer of 2015.
