Simple Actions Can and Do Make A Difference
The Redwood Heritage Project was created to raise awareness of the impact of climate change on the environment and to foster the idea in youth that simple actions can make a positive and powerful impact using the example of planting redwood trees. The Baum Foundation collaborated with The Meridian Foundation to give participants the hands-on experience of planting redwoods, and they learned about redwoods and their ecology as well as other important plants and animals in the local ecosystem and the effects that climate change can have on them.
Following the tree planting event, The Baum Foundation created a web post to share experiences of the value of planting with Redwood trees with San Francisco Bay area schools and to demonstrate how interesting redwood trees are. Youth from around the Bay Area visited the park and shared their direct positive experience of planting trees in their neighborhood.
