Science Based Ocean Conservation – National 2008
2008 America’s oceans are in decline, and yet, there is a widespread lack of knowledge in the U.S. about the impact that we have on ocean health and in turn, how the ocean affects our lives.
America’s Ocean Challenge is a communications program whose purpose is to overcome this knowledge gap and transform how North Americans think about the ocean. The goal of America’s Ocean Challenge is to provide science-based, ocean conservation strategies that equip people to make decisions and to take actions that sustain, rather than deplete, our ocean resources.
America’s Ocean Challenge, created by Summerhays Films and supported by The Baum Foundation delivered this video program to the public throughout the U.S. theaters and with partner youth programs at science centers and aquariums. Science centers and aquariums collectively are visited by over 142 million people each year, with the objective of motivating the public toward better stewardship of our ocean.
