Motivating Future Environmental Stewards – San Francisco 2005-2010
The children of today will face the long-term consequences of climate change. When they are 40 years old, they will live in an environment shaped by the protections we implement to lessen the impact of climate change in the next five to ten years. Coinciding with World Environment day, the SF Department of the Environment annually sponsors an art contest for grades K-12 to encourage children to creatively communicate their perspectives on environmental issues, in this way motivating and educating environmental stewards of the future.
From 2006-2010 San Francisco Department of the Environment held this contest in collaboration with United Nations Environment Program, Meridian Health Foundation and The Baum Foundation.
