San Francisco Girls Chorus – San Francisco 2005-2006
The San Francisco Girls Chorus is a regional center for music education and performance for girls and young women. More than 300 singers from 160 schools in 48 Bay Area cities participate in this internationally recognized program. For many years, the lack of a permanent home meant that the Chorus was forced to move frequently, and the program was also limited by inadequate rehearsal and performance spaces.
In November 2005, the Chorus celebrated the official opening of its new home, the Kanbar Performing Arts Center, in the heart of San Francisco’s Civic Center performing arts district. The Baum Foundation provided a grant and contributed marketing and public relations expertise for two years to support the capital campaign for the purchase of their permanent home, The Kanbar Performing Arts Center.
