Baum Sponsored group Rios to Rivers is building on our past work, the Patagonia RAVE, to protect the pristine wilderness of Chilean Patagonia and to talk about next steps needed to sustain the success for effort.
Background: The Río Baker and the Río Pascua in Aysén, Chilean Patagonia, are threatened by the construction of five mega-dams. The rivers flow through one of the world’s last great wildernesses. Ríos to Rivers is developing an exchange program between Club Náutico Escualo, a youth kayaking club from the remote Patagonian town of Cochrane, Chile and students from the Colorado Rocky Mountain School(CRMS) to raise awareness about the need for the protection of the rivers and inspire the next generation of conservationists.
Ríos to Rivers, with support from International Rivers, The Patagonian Foundation and Patagonia Inc. is pleased to invite you to the fund raising event, Endangered Aysén, at The David Brower Center (2150 Allston Way) in Berkeley, California on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at 6:00pm.
About the Evening: Endangered Aysén will be an evening of film, photography, and conversation about the next steps to protect the landscapes, rivers, and culture of Aysén in Chilean Patagonia with:
