Conserving Biodiversity – World Environment Day 2010, San Francisco
Commemorated on June 5 since 1972, World Environment Day (WED) is one of the principal vehicles through which the UN stimulates worldwide awareness of the environment and encourages political attention and action.
The theme of WED 2010 was “Many Species. One Planet. One Future”—an urgent call to conserve the diversity of life on our planet. Working together the United Nations Environment Program, San Francisco Environment, Temple Nightclub, Meridian Foundation, The Baum Foundation, Lionfish Consulting, CODE Green Agency, and Change SF, produced a multi-media presentation using stunning images of biodiversity from National Geographic, UNEP’s International Children’s Painting Competition, science and facts that was projected throughout the nightclub during the evening’s activities. The purpose was to raise awareness around the theme of sustainable biodiversity and motivate us resolve to do much more, and much faster, to win the race against extinction.
Below is one of the videos that inspired our multi-media presentation.
