Stewards of the Wild Sea to Screen at G2 Green Earth Film Festival

Stewards of the Wild Sea was announced as an official selection for the 2015 G2 Green Earth Film Festival, hosted by G2 Gallery in Venice, California. Screening at the festival on October 17th, Stewards of the Wild Sea tells the remarkable story of how Northern California Tribal Nations protected their fishing rights during a state-mandated process to establish marine protected areas (MPAs) within ocean waters of their ancestral territories. For countless generations, these tribes have responsibly cared for and utilized marine life, maintaining a crucial ecological balance. Stewards of the Wild Sea was directed by William Bayne, Coyote Films and produced by Hawk Rosales and The Baum Foundation.

The G2 Gallery is an award-winning venue for nature and wildlife photography in the Los Angeles area. G2 “facilitates change by bringing attention to environmental issues through the persuasive power of photographic art” and celebrates year three of its Green Earth Film Festival.
The 2015 film festival also presents the special event “Protecting First Nations Land and Waters: Tribal Parks & Marine Protected Areas” which will include a panel of filmmakers and activists deeply involved in the advocacy and protection of ancestral lands and waters in North America. The Panelists include Hawk Rosales, Co-Producer of Stewards of the Wild Sea and Executive Director of the InterTribal Sinkyone Wilderness Council; Jeremy Williams, Director of For our Grandchildren; and Gisele Martin, community activist and citizen of Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation.
