The Baum Foundation created the Moscow to America Classical Music Study (MACMS) Program at the Aspen Music Festival (AMFS) and Schools to expand the artistic and professional development of promising students from leading Moscow music conservatories.

The program provided students from Russia eight weeks of intensive study and performance at the Aspen Music Festival and School (AMFS), as well as exposure to their peers from diverse backgrounds and cultures from around the world.

Under the artistic direction of David Zinman, the AMFS and its highly distinguished faculty included the Moscow to America Classical Music Study Program in their planning. Both the students and the teachers found the experience to be transformative as it allowed them to study, learn, and grow, both as musicians and as citizens of the world. The Baum Foundation supported the program from 2003-2007.
